VECKTA Raises $11 Million to Build the Buyer’s Side of the Onsite Solar and Storage Market

Origin Ventures leads a Series A for the platform and marketplace, which finds that one in three business sites is financially feasible for solar and storage today

SAN DIEGO, Oct. 20, 2026 — VECKTA, a planning and procurement platform for onsite energy, today announced an oversubscribed $11 million Series A led by Origin Ventures. The profitable company will use the funding to expand its U.S. customer team, product, partnerships and supplier network as more businesses look to generate and store electricity at their own facilities. VECKTA’s customers include Enterprise Mobility, Lithia & Driveway, Phillips Edison & Co. and Regency Centers, and its collaborative relationships include JLL, Voltus, Leap and Cascade Energy.

For many U.S. businesses, securing reliable electricity at a predictable cost now shapes decisions about where and how quickly to expand. Commercial electricity prices rose an average of 23% from 2020 to 2024 and 5.6% in the first seven months of 2026, according to U.S. Energy Information Administration data, and they are likely to stay under pressure because demand is growing faster than new power plants can connect to the grid. Generating and storing energy onsite gives businesses control over costs and supply. Maximizing these benefits requires choosing locations where the economics work and paying a fair price for the system.

Changing electricity rates, incentives, utility programs and market dynamics make it challenging for businesses to know which sites to prioritize and what system configurations are financially optimal. The procurement process introduces additional hurdles related to supplier qualification, sourcing high-quality, comparable proposals and requiring the right project terms and conditions. Companies end up overpaying, building a suboptimal system or leaving profitable projects unbuilt.

Using only a property address, VECKTA’s platform draws on more than 5,000 data points to return a business case and recommended solar and storage system configuration for each site in under a minute. Companies assessing a broader portfolio can isolate which projects to prioritize based on economic return and monitor marginal projects for future deployment. Customers then approach the market through VECKTA’s marketplace knowing what system is right for them, how they want to pay for it and what it should cost. VECKTA’s team issues a standardized request for proposals to prequalified suppliers so that each one prices the same scope and the customer can compare offers side by side.

When VECKTA’s platform analyzed about 34,000 customer sites, it found that 37% could support solar or battery storage with positive returns today, representing $3.1 billion in project value. VECKTA estimates that figure will grow nearly fourfold to $12 billion within five years, with $52 billion in potential utility savings, as the levelized cost of solar and storage falls below utility rates in as many as 29 states.

This year, VECKTA customers contracted for onsite energy systems at 128 sites and paid 20% to 45% less than bids they sourced themselves. The fastest project went from first assessment to signed contract in nine weeks, while such projects typically take 12 to 18 months. The company also supports the deployment of other onsite energy technologies, such as waste-heat-to-power, electric vehicle chargers and generators.

“The most dangerous decision a business can make about its energy is acceptance of the status quo,” said Gareth Evans, CEO and co-founder of VECKTA. “Rates will continue to rise and the grid will continue to be constrained, making the imperative for businesses to find profitable solutions more acute. VECKTA provides the de-risked, data-driven and scalable process for deploying onsite energy systems necessary for the realities of this dynamic and complex market.”

“Onsite energy has become a capital allocation decision for large companies, and the market hasn’t given them the information to make it with confidence,” said Scott Stern, partner at Origin Ventures. “VECKTA built its business on the buyer’s side — helping companies know what to build, where, and what it should cost before they go to market. That’s where we think the real value gets created.”

With the new funding, VECKTA will expand its team and platform capabilities to support the entire life cycle of an onsite energy asset and automate the analysis of more ancillary revenue opportunities. The company will also grow its network of more than 3,000 vetted suppliers and its partner ecosystem as it adds customers across the U.S.

The round includes new and existing investors Tech Square Ventures, VoLo Earth Ventures, Cove Fund, Catalyst by Wellstar, Engage, Emerald Bay Ventures, She’s Independent Investments and Mobilize AI x Energy Ventures, and builds on VECKTA’s 2023 seed round.

VisionHammer Expands into Gulf and U.S. Markets as AI Creates a New Challenge for Software Control

DUBAI, UAE, Oct. 20, 2026 — Artificial intelligence is transforming the speed at which software is created, deployed and changed. But as organizations accelerate development, a new challenge is emerging: understanding and controlling the increasingly complex software systems on which their businesses depend.

VisionHammer, a Portuguese AI-native software assurance company backed by Google for Startups, is addressing that challenge with a platform designed to give organizations a continuously updated view of their software, from newly generated code to legacy systems, dependencies and integrations, and the ability to act on the risks it identifies.

As companies increasingly rely on AI to develop software at unprecedented speed, the gap between what is being created and what engineering teams can effectively understand and review is becoming a critical issue.

“AI is now writing code faster than any team can review it. That is a huge opportunity, and a huge risk,” said William Bella, Co-Founder and CTO of VisionHammer. “VisionHammer gives companies the confidence to move at the speed of AI without losing control of what they ship.”

Unlike tools focused primarily on detecting vulnerabilities or generating alerts, VisionHammer combines software discovery, code analysis, AI-driven remediation and production intelligence to help organizations understand not only where risk exists, but what to do about it.

The platform maps software environments, identifies vulnerabilities, exposed secrets and architectural weaknesses, and turns technical findings into actionable remediation. In production, it continuously monitors systems, detects incidents, identifies root causes and proposes fixes, while keeping final approval with the customer’s engineering teams.

In one customer deployment, VisionHammer reduced the time required to identify and resolve issues from approximately five hours to an average of four minutes – a reduction of more than 90%.

“Companies have spent decades becoming better at building software, but not necessarily at understanding everything they have accumulated,” said Tiago Silva, Co-Founder and CEO of VisionHammer. “AI is now accelerating that complexity. Our mission is to give organizations the visibility and control they need to move faster without losing confidence in what they build.”

Born in Portugal and now expanding internationally across the Gulf and the United States, VisionHammer is positioning software assurance as a strategic capability for organizations operating complex and business-critical technology environments.

The company’s proposition is ultimately simple: as AI enables organizations to build software faster, they also need a new ability to understand, control and continuously improve what they build.

About VisionHammer

VisionHammer is an AI-native software assurance company founded in Portugal and backed by Google for Startups. Its platform combines software discovery, code analysis, AI-driven remediation and production intelligence to help organizations understand, secure and continuously improve the software systems they depend on.

Andy Ballester Donates $1 Million to TL Foundation, Empowering San Diego to Fund Its Own Innovative Future

Momentum grows for the Foundation as the GoFundMe co-founder and TL Foundation board chair joins civic leaders Buzz Woolley and Malin Burnham in supporting the organization’s evergreen philanthropic venture fund for San Diego

SAN DIEGO, Oct. 20, 2026 — TL Foundation Board Chair Andy Ballester has donated $1 million to accelerate the foundation’s philanthropic venture fund, advancing the early vision and support of civic leaders Malin Burnham and Buzz Woolley. The gift reflects Ballester’s conviction that those who care about San Diego must play active roles in shaping its future.

San Diego has world-class founders, talent and research. For the region to grow and prosper, it needs local capital to translate that potential into companies, jobs and opportunity. TL Foundation was created to address this critical need.

TL Foundation’s fund empowers San Diego’s entrepreneurs to turn their best ideas into promising businesses that start, scale and stay here. As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, TL combines philanthropy with venture investing, putting charitable dollars to work in San Diego and reinvesting returns to support more local founders. Their success strengthens the city’s economy and community today while delivering greater resilience over time.

This innovation and economic flywheel is why Ballester, Burnham and Woolley became early supporters of TL Foundation. They saw a uniquely powerful opportunity to significantly multiply their philanthropic impact for San Diego today and tomorrow.

Every dollar invested in TL goes to work immediately to help promising early stage San Diego startups. That gift’s impact grows in impact over time as TL’s investments generate returns, and the proceeds return to the foundation to back more local entrepreneurs.

TL’s flywheel is already well engaged in the community. The Foundation has invested in six outstanding San Diego companies: Condor Software, Looq, Papillon Therapeutics, Resolute Science, Proper Voltage and Welby Health.

Ballester, a technology entrepreneur, product leader and philanthropist, has spent his career helping people act on what they care about. As co-founder of GoFundMe, he helped create one of the world’s largest online fundraising platforms, empowering people and communities to raise billions of dollars for worthy causes. He also co-founded EyePop.ai, an AI Vision platform, and BQuest Foundation, which supports climate, sustainability and housing equity initiatives.

Those experiences shaped a simple belief: When people are given a trusted, accessible way to help, they step forward.

“San Diego became America’s Finest City through the committed efforts of local leaders who saw its potential,” Ballester said. “If we want this community to continue to thrive, we must invest in it. TL Foundation is how we do that.”

“We are deeply grateful for Andy’s commitment to TL and inspired by his active leadership. Andy doesn’t just talk about our city’s challenges and opportunities. He backs his commitment with significant funding, time and expertise,” said Kris Lichter, CEO of TL Foundation. “We encourage all San Diegans to join us in building TL into the engine that keeps San Diego moving forward.  Every gift can make an impact today and an even bigger, exponential outcome tomorrow.”

Anyone who loves San Diego can be part of the TL Foundation. There is no minimum donation. TL accepts direct gifts, donor-advised fund grants and public or private stock donations.

Stellios is designing and building the core hardware behind high-power microwave systems, including the vacuum-electronic devices and the high-voltage power generation, conditioning, and control systems that drive them. By combining this hardware with modern power electronics, software-defined controls, and AI-native engineering, the company aims to make these systems smaller, faster to develop, and less expensive than legacy designs. Stellios is advancing two core technology platforms:

High-Power Microwave Systems for Counter-Drone Defense and Industrial Use
Stellios’ first commercial focus is developing MW-class high-power microwave systems for defense and industrial applications. In defense, these systems are designed for counter-electronics and counter-drone missions, where the proliferation of low-cost drones is driving demand for systems capable of engaging multiple targets rapidly and at a low cost per engagement. Industrial applications include geothermal drilling, advanced materials processing, and plasma heating for fusion research. Stellios designs and builds its systems in the United States to reduce dependence on constrained foreign and legacy supply chains and secure American leadership in HPM technology.

Compact Fusion for Energy and Propulsion
Stellios is also advancing a research program in compact aneutronic fusion. The program leverages many of the same core technologies and subsystems developed for Stellios’ HPM systems, including advanced power electronics, magnets, vacuum systems, cooling, controls, and AI-native engineering. The company aims to develop fusion systems compact enough to power remote military bases and industrial sites with minimal need for refueling, and ultimately to enable long-range supersonic and hypersonic flight and rapid travel throughout the solar system.
