SquareX Raises $20 Million for Revolutionary Browser Detection and Response, Turning Any Browser into Enterprise-Grade Secure Browser with a Simple Extension

Series A Investment Led by SYN Ventures with Participation from Existing Investor Peak XV Partners (Formerly Sequoia Capital SEA)

PALO ALTO, Calif., April 24, 2025SquareX, the pioneer in Browser Detection and Response (BDR), announced it is closing a $20 million in Series A funding led by SYN Ventures, a leading venture capital firm focused on cybersecurity investments, with participation from existing investor Peak XV Partners (formerly Sequoia Capital SEA).

The browser has become a primary target for cyberattacks, creating a significant gap in enterprise security. Traditional security tools lack visibility into browser threats, while proprietary enterprise browsers can introduce friction, hindering user productivity and adoption. As the industry’s first Browser Detection and Response (BDR) solution, SquareX’s browser extension converts any browser into an enterprise-grade secure browser, providing the same functionality as dedicated enterprise browsers and more without the cumbersome change management. This unique approach revolutionizes browser security empowering enterprises to effectively manage threats like malicious extensions, phishing, genAI data leakage, insider threats, and more, directly within the browser environment, significantly reducing the enterprise attack surface without compromising user experience.

“The browser is the new endpoint, yet it remains a major blind spot for most organizations. Existing solutions often force a trade-off between security and usability,” said Vivek Ramachandran, CEO of SquareX. “We built SquareX to eliminate this compromise in browser security, offering robust protection that works with the browsers users are already familiar with. This Series A funding, led by the team at SYN Ventures, validates our vision of everyone being able to be online without fear.”

Jay Leek, Managing Partner & Founder of SYN Ventures, commented, “SquareX is tackling one of the most significant and underserved areas in cybersecurity today. The browser is ground zero for countless attacks, and the team at SquareX has developed an elegant and powerful solution that provides critical visibility and control where it’s needed most – directly within the native browser experience.”

“Having partnered with SquareX since their seed stage, we’ve been impressed by their vision and execution in tackling browser security challenges,” said Shailendra Singh, Managing Director, Peak XV. “We are excited to partner with them again as they demonstrate strong results in delivering much-needed cybersecurity capabilities to enterprise customers.”

Fluent Ventures Launches “Geographic Alpha” Venture Platform and Is Backed By 75+ Unicorn Founders & Tech Leaders

Firm’s geographic alpha strategy focuses on backing founders who localize proven, successful business models in high-potential regions, in fintech, commerce and health.

SAN FRANCISCO, April 24, 2025 — Fluent Ventures, a new global early-stage venture capital firm founded by investor and author Alex Lazarow, today announced its debut program. Fluent’s approach—what it calls geographic alpha—focuses on backing founders who localize successful business models in high-potential regions, across fintech, health and commerce. The firm plans to invest $40m through its hybrid platform, including a fund and a co-investment strategy.

“Fluent was born from a simple belief: the best ideas can come from anywhere—and scale everywhere,” said Alex Lazarow, General Partner at Fluent Ventures.

The firm’s current portfolio spans North America, Latin America, the Middle East, Africa, Europe, and Asia—representing a new, globally distributed venture playbook. Early investments include:

  • Sabi – a B2B marketplace transforming agricultural and industrial supply chains in Nigeria
  • BRKZ – a Saudi construction tech platform led by Careem’s former COO
  • Prima – a B2B manufacturing platform based in Mexico
  • Baton and Iconic – U.S.-based startups innovating in small business M&A and AI-driven brokerage

Fluent is backed by more than 75 value-added LPs including unicorn founders, operators, and global investors, including David Vélez (Nubank), Adal Flores (Kueski), Sean Harper (Kin), Nick Nash (SEA Group), Akshay Garg (Kredivo), JC Glancy (ZenBusiness), and Lucas Ward (Kin).

“Business models don’t copy-paste. Context matters,” said David Vélez, cofounder and CEO of Nubank. “Fluent understands that while global problems may be universal, their solutions need to be adapted—and that’s where the opportunity lies.”

The firm’s strategy draws from Lazarow’s decade of experience at global funds including Omidyar Network and Cathay Innovation, where he invested in companies like Chime, Neon, Kin, Sidecar Health and others. It also builds on the thesis of his book Out-Innovate (Harvard Business Press), which explores how global entrepreneurs are rewriting the rules of Silicon Valley. The book has been translated into four languages and serves as the intellectual foundation for Fluent’s work.

“In 2013, just four cities had produced a unicorn. Today, it’s more than 150,” said Lazarow. “Entrepreneurship has gone global—and Fluent was built for exactly this shift.”

Respondology Secures Additional $5 Million in Series A-1 Funding to Accelerate Growth of its Comment Activation Platform

Iron Gate Capital, SJF Ventures, Zelkova Ventures, Boulder Heavy Industries (BHI), and RLB Holdings reinvest $5M to expand Respondology’s Comment Activation Platform vision.

BOULDER, Colo., April 23, 2025 — Respondology, the pioneering leader in social media comment moderation and intelligence and creator of the industry’s first Comment Activation Platform, today announced the successful closure of its $5 million Series A-1 funding round. This internal round builds on the $11 million Series A funding secured in 2023 from the same investor group, highlighting investor confidence in the company’s vision.

Respondology’s Comment Activation Platform operates in over 100 languages and provides two flagship products: Moderate, which protects brands in real-time from toxic comments, abuse, spam, and bots; and Discover, which delivers valuable insights by analyzing comment trends and sentiment in a few clicks and 30 seconds. Together, these solutions turn unstructured comment data into strategic marketing intelligence, helping brands enhance audience engagement and refine their marketing strategies.

Initially established as the industry leader in instant, AI-powered comment moderation, Respondology continues to expand beyond moderation in direct response to evolving market demands. As brands mature their social media marketing strategies, they’re asking for more than protection from comments and spam–they need a way to harness the insights hidden in those same comment streams. Investors reinvested in Respondology not just for its category-defining moderation capabilities, but because the company is meeting this growing demand: empowering brands to both safeguard their presence and extract meaningful, actionable intelligence from social conversations.

“We backed Respondology again because they’re solving a real and growing problem for brands and using advanced AI to tackle it,” said Dan Geballe, Managing Director at SJF Ventures. “There’s no question that comment sections have become a critical part of how companies connect with their audiences—and in many cases, a liability. Reducing toxic noise, abuse, and spam creates safer online spaces and protects brand value. Respondology is way ahead of the curve in helping brands not just clean up those conversations, but learn from them, and realize higher return on investment for their paid social media efforts. They’ve defined a category and are building something with staying power.”

As platforms like Meta relax their hate speech policies, brands are increasingly left to protect themselves, and the stakes are high ($250 billion is estimated to be spent on social media advertising this year). Respondology’s moderation solution not only protects brand integrity in real time, it also boosts performance: clients see a 17.6% average increase in ROAS on TikTok and a 7.35% lift on Meta thanks to instant moderation. By eliminating toxic noise and surfacing meaningful insights, Respondology helps brands get more out of their social media investments.

“Social media comment streams have become the number one communication channel between brands and their consumers, prospects, followers, and fans,” says Erik Swain, CEO & Co-Founder of Respondology. “But with platforms stepping back from enforcement, brands are left to fend for themselves–and they’re leaning in more than ever. This is why marketers not only want and need moderation, but also to learn from those social conversations and soon, engage in a personalized way at scale with their audience. This follow-on investment funds Respondology’s continued leadership delivering these in-demand solutions to the market.”

The company now serves over 450 brands across sports, entertainment, consumer goods, and marketing agencies, collectively protecting over two billion followers by moderating over 365 million comments globally. Respondology’s customers report immediate improvements, including an increase in return on ad spend (ROAS), significant time savings of internal resources, improved brand sentiment, and invaluable insights surfaced from the focus group in their comment sections.

The new investment will accelerate Respondology’s product development—enhancing existing capabilities and supporting the launch of a third flagship product—while also expanding the team and scaling go-to-market efforts to meet rapidly growing customer demand.

About Respondology:

Respondology gives marketers access to all the value from their social comment sections so they can listen, learn, and act. Unlike traditional social media management tools that focus on scheduling, monitoring, and basic listening, Respondology’s Comment Activation Platform moderates comments and surfaces actionable insights from what your audience is talking about in seconds. Endor Labs Expands its Application Security Platform for the AI Code Revolution with $93M Series B

Fastest-growing AppSec company ever, brings to bear the most comprehensive security dataset for AI-generated code and the vibe coding era

PALO ALTO, Calif., April 23, 2025 — Endor Labs, the fastest-growing company in application security, today announced a major expansion of its AppSec platform—purpose-built for the era of AI-generated code and “vibe coding.” Powered by Agentic AI and the industry’s richest security dataset, the platform doesn’t just identify risks—it prioritizes them, proposes remediations, and can apply fixes automatically. The result: entire classes of threats are neutralized before they ever reach production.

“We’re in the middle of the software development revolution. Until recently, 80% of code came from open source. Moving forward, 80% will be generated by AI. That future isn’t far off—it’s already reshaping how software gets built today, ” said Varun Badhwar, co-founder and CEO of Endor Labs. “Everyone’s building AI agents, but most are just wrappers around LLMs. What makes our agents powerful is the data underneath. We’ve spent years building the security dataset the industry needs to make AI actually useful for AppSec teams.”

Endor Labs is built for a world where software is being written faster—and with less oversight—than ever before. With 62% of AI-generated solutions containing bugs or security vulnerabilities, and nearly 30% including critical weaknesses, traditional tools simply can’t keep up. Endor Labs addresses this head-on with a unique combination of deep technical analysis and intelligent automation. Over the past three years, the team of world-renowned program analysis experts at Endor Labs has:

  • Analyzed 4.5 million open source projects and AI models
  • Mapped 150+ risk factors to each
  • Built call graphs indexing billions of functions and libraries
  • Annotated the exact lines where known vulnerabilities exist

This context powers a new generation of AI agents that operate inside the software development lifecycle—not just alerting, but acting.

The company today also announced its $93 million Series B funding round led by DFJ Growth, with participation from Salesforce Ventures and existing backers including Lightspeed Venture Partners, Coatue, Dell Technologies Capital, Section 32, and Citi Ventures. This funding will support the expanded AppSec platform and Endor Labs’ position as the fastest-growing AppSec platform. You can read further details about the financing here.

What’s New: Agentic AI for AppSec

At the core of the platform are dedicated AI agents built specifically for application security. These agents reason about code like developers, architects, and security engineers. They work in concert to review code, identify risks, and recommend precise fixes—extending the capabilities of security teams without creating developer friction.

Endor Labs is launching the first capabilities built on this platform today:

AI Security Code Review

Endor Labs uses multiple AI agents to review every pull request (PR) for architectural changes that impact your security posture, and fall outside the scope of legacy Static Application Security Testing (SAST) and vulnerability scanning tools. For example:

  • Addition of AI systems that are vulnerable to prompt injection
  • Modifications to authentication or authorization mechanisms
  • Introduction of new public API endpoints
  • Changes to cryptographic implementations
  • Alterations to sensitive data handling

Key benefits:

  • Surfaces high-risk changes buried in thousands of pull requests
  • Cuts false positives and alert fatigue with contextual prioritization
  • Lets security engineers focus on what actually matters

“We’re looking for better ways to scale how we identify business logic risks and unknown unknowns in our codebase.” Said Mark Breitenbach, Security Engineer at Dropbox. “Traditional static analysis tools haven’t really given us the lift we need. Being able to detect risks that we’d otherwise miss manually or through traditional automation is hugely valuable.”

MCP Plugin for Cursor (Real-Time AI Code Security)

As “vibe coding” becomes the norm—where developers move fast and follow intuition—the MCP plugin brings security directly into AI-native tools like Cursor and GitHub Copilot. It scans code as it’s written, flags risks, and helps developers and AI coding agents fix issues without slowing them down. In short, it brings the power and context of Endor Labs right into Cursor and Copilot, long before a pull request is even created. This transforms what used to be a weeks-long process involving security tickets, developer back-and-forth, and manual fixes into an automated workflow that resolves issues in minutes—all without disrupting the developer experience.

“Despite the advances we see on a daily basis, application security teams are still struggling to adopt AI in a way that helps them improve productivity,” said Chris Steffen, Vice President of Research at Enterprise Management Associates. “They need greater visibility and context into AI-generated code, and solutions to help them uncover security risks sooner and faster. Endor Labs is ahead of the game with AI innovations built specifically for application security engineers using its wealth of data and knowledge.”

Availability
AI Code Security Review will be available to all Endor Labs customers in May. To see it in action or book a meeting at RSA Conference, visit endorlabs.com.
